In conclusion I beg to annex Copy of Notification issued by my Predecessor on the 13 July 1844, against persons in Government employ quitting the Colony without leave, which was approved by Lord Stanley's Despatch No 55 of 11 November 1844; and the question therefore is whether the Chief Justice's Clerk is to be a solitary exception to the Rule.
